INTRO Gotiti is produced by 868 smallholder farmers in Ethiopia's Gedeb woreda, where coffee is grown beneath acacia and false banana trees in the cool, forested highlands of Yirgacheffe. Delivered by foot or mule to the local washing station, each lot is carefully separated, washed, fermented, and dried to preserve clarity and traceability. In the cup: peach, orange blossom, guava, and panela.

THE PRODUCER Gotiti is a small coffee-growing community within the Gedeb woreda of southern Ethiopia's renowned Yirgacheffe region, where 868 smallholder farmers cultivate coffee on plots often smaller than two hectares. Established in 2023, the Gotiti washing station carefully manages each stage of processing, from cherry reception and lot separation through pulping, fermentation, washing, and drying, with detailed records preserving traceability throughout. Farmers draw on generations of Gedeo agricultural knowledge, growing indigenous varieties beneath acacia and false banana trees in dense, high-elevation forests — shade systems that support soil health and create the cool, biodiverse environment behind the region's clarity, florality, and elegance. This lot reaches buyers through sourcing partners Red Fox Coffee Merchants.

THE PROCESS This lot is Washed at the Gotiti station, with cherry reception, lot separation, pulping, fermentation, washing, and drying all carefully managed and documented for full traceability.

The careful lot separation from cherry reception onward is the defining detail here — it's what preserves the clarity and elegance behind the peach and orange blossom character that define this cup.

THE CUP Clear and elegant — peach sweetness up front, orange blossom florality through the middle, and guava depth alongside a panela sweetness on the finish. A precisely traceable expression of Gedeb's cool, high-elevation terroir.

About this variety

This is a mixed or locally selected coffee population rather than one precisely identified variety. Expect the lot’s tasting notes to be more useful than a single variety stereotype.

Why this one is different
  • Ethiopia
  • Yirgacheffe
  • 2050 masl
  • Washed

In Ethiopia, local selection, replanting and farm history can shape a mixed population over many generations.

Washed processing can make acidity and variety character easier to read, although fermentation and drying choices still matter.

A little background

Several plant types may be growing and harvested together, often reflecting a farm or region’s planting history.

Classification Mixed population

Technical lineage The individual plants are not fully separated or identified, so a single genetic lineage would be misleading.

Variety is a guide, not a flavour guarantee. Lot notes are more specific.
