INTRO A clean and sweetness-forward Landrace — one of Flower Child's favourite coffees of the year. Huge aromatics with sugary tones and long floral permeations, medium-light in body with intricate stone fruit to berry notes. Hot to cool, this cup exudes orange, melon, concord grapes, yellow cherry, and a bright floral bouquet. In the cup: wildflower honey, citrus, and grapes.
THE PRODUCER The Othosololo Honey lot comes from the Osolo Station in the Greita Korsa highland area of Guji, Oromia. The station serves approximately 150–200 smallholder farmers from the surrounding communities of Wocho Sololo, Tabata, Mebocho, and Mender, farming at 2,240–2,280 masl. The primary variety is JARC 74158, alongside other JARC varieties like 74112 and 74110 — native Ethiopian coffee trees selected in the 1970s by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center for resilience, stability, and cherry production, originating from mother plants in the Metu Bishari forest region of Illubabor. This widely loved and celebrated trio of Landrace varieties is known for its signature citrus-berry and floral character when grown in the Ethiopian Highlands.
THE PROCESS Cherries were picked fresh at ripe stages and carefully delivered to the Osolo Station, then de-pulped without the use of water. The wet parchment — cherry mucilage still on the seed — dries on raised beds for 12–13 days, carefully monitored and rotated for even drying.
The waterless de-pulping combined with the extended honey drying is the defining step — it's what builds the huge, sugary aromatics and layered stone fruit-to-berry complexity that define this cup.
THE CUP Clean and sweetness-forward — huge aromatics with sugary tones and long floral permeations. Hot to cool, the cup moves through orange, melon, concord grapes, and yellow cherry, with a bright floral bouquet throughout.
