INTRO
Two exciting firsts here — the first release from the renowned Las Margaritas farm, and the first time featuring the highly anticipated CGLE17 variety. After years of evaluating auction samples without finding a washed lot that fully met the strict standard for clarity, this is finally the one. In the cup: peach, jasmine, and ginger ale.
THE PRODUCER
CGLE17 is an exclusive, original variety developed by Café Granja La Esperanza, created by crossing Geisha with Caturra. Though a hybrid, its flavour profile is overwhelmingly driven by the Geisha genetics — arguably the best Geisha-cross hybrid encountered so far. This lot comes from Rigoberto Herrera's work at Las Margaritas.
THE PROCESS
This lot is Classic Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying — allowing CGLE17's naturally Geisha-forward character to come through with clarity, building the profoundly clean jasmine florality and soft peach body that define this cup.
THE CUP
Powerful yet elegantly soft — the cup retains strong, classic Geisha character but introduces a beautifully soft, peach-like body. A profoundly clean jasmine florality is brilliantly highlighted by a vibrant, sparkling ginger ale note reminiscent of a great Sidra.
