DETAILS

  • Producer: Gesha Village
  • Region: West Omo, Ethiopia
  • Varietal: Gesha 1931
  • Process: Natural Anaerobic
  • Score: 89
  • Harvest: 2026
  • Lot: Oma G26/E24

INTRO Sourced from the legendary Gesha Village terroir in the heart of Ethiopia's West Omo region, this Oma G26/E24 lot is grown on the slopes of the Oma block, where the Gesha 1931 variety expresses its full finesse. The natural anaerobic fermentation imparts remarkable aromatic depth without masking the terroir's identity. In the cup: poppy, blueberries, and orange.

THE PRODUCER This lot comes from the Oma block within the legendary Gesha Village farm in West Omo, Ethiopia — one of the plots growing the historic Gesha 1931 variety, the lineage the farm's reputation is built on.

THE PROCESS This lot undergoes Natural Anaerobic fermentation — cherries are fermented whole under anaerobic conditions, imparting remarkable aromatic depth while preserving the terroir's natural identity.

The anaerobic fermentation is the defining step — it's what builds the light, airy aroma and juicy blueberry depth that define this cup, while letting the orange brightness and floral poppy character come through with clarity.

THE CUP Light and airy — poppy evokes a floral sweetness, joined by juicy blueberry, and orange brightens the whole cup with lively freshness, leaving a long, elegant finish. As it cools, new nuances reveal themselves with the precision great Ethiopian Geshas are known for.

About this variety

This variety is recorded for the coffee, but we do not yet have a reviewed typical cup profile for it. The tasting notes for this specific lot are the best guide.

Why this one is different
  • Ethiopia
  • West Omo
  • Natural

Natural processing often brings a rounder, fruit-led expression, which can make the same variety feel quite different from a washed lot.

Growing conditions in West Omo are another reason this coffee may differ from the same variety grown elsewhere.

A little background

This is the variety name supplied by the producer or roaster. We preserve that identification without inventing a genetic history.
