INTRO A loud, punchy Kenyan AB from Mugaya washing station in Kirinyaga — extremely high green apple and lime acidity up front, but the coffee contains multitudes, opening up to buttery chardonnay, nectarine, and kiwi. In the cup: green apple, lime, buttery chardonnay, nectarine, and kiwi.

THE PRODUCER Founded by the Mutira Farmers Cooperative Society in 1975, Mugaya washing station provides processing and drying, technical agriculture advice, and regular check-ins to ensure the surrounding land stays healthy, serving 924 member farmers. Sitting at 1,570 masl, farmers are encouraged to plant shade trees and grow beans, macadamia, and other crops alongside coffee to maintain soil health.

THE PROCESS This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying — letting the field blend's naturally bright, punchy acidity come through, building the green apple and lime intensity that opens this cup before the buttery chardonnay and stone fruit depth reveals itself underneath.

THE CUP Loud and punchy at first — extremely high green apple and lime acidity that grabs attention immediately, before opening up to reveal buttery chardonnay, nectarine, and kiwi underneath. A cup with real range.
