THE PRODUCER
Prolog's relationship with Kigari spans three years, with coffee purchased in 2022, 2023, and 2026. Based in the highlands of Meru County, Kigari brings together farmers across four wet mills, producing coffee at 1,600–1,900 masl. The cooperative is deeply committed to its farmers, providing access to pre-financing, farm inputs on credit, school-fee support, and emergency funds, practical support that helps farming families invest in their futures and sustain production year after year.
Kigari's impact extends beyond the cup: the cooperative encourages farmers to integrate Grevillea and macadamia trees into their coffee farms, providing shade while supporting environmental conservation, and promotes diversified farming with bananas and maize.
THE PROCESS
This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying. It lets the SL28, Batian, and Ruiru 11 blend's bright, fruit-forward character come through with clarity.
THE CUP
Classic and smooth: red fruit and pomegranate lead, with a long, everlasting acidity and a black tea finish.
