INTRO
Portón 5FB is a washed Geisha from El Vélo, grown at 1,700 meters above sea level. The washed process highlights the variety's clarity and delicate aromatics, with jasmine and orange blossom complemented by juicy apricot and an elegant white grape sweetness. In the cup: jasmine, orange blossom, apricot, and white grape.
THE PRODUCER
Hacienda La Esmeralda is one of Panama's most iconic coffee estates and has played a major role in the story of Panamanian Geisha. Owned and managed by the Peterson family for generations, with coffee production dating to the early 20th century, the farm gained worldwide recognition in the early 2000s when its Geisha from the Boquete highlands achieved remarkable results at Best of Panama, introducing the distinctive floral, fruit-driven character of Panamanian Geisha to a much wider audience. Today the Petersons produce Geisha across several distinct farms and microclimates, carefully separating lots to preserve the unique characteristics of each growing area.
THE PROCESS
This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying. It highlights the variety's clarity and delicate aromatics, which builds the jasmine and orange blossom character that defines this cup.
THE CUP
Clean, floral, and highly expressive: jasmine and orange blossom lead, with juicy apricot through the middle and an elegant white grape sweetness on the finish.
