INTRO A special Gesha offering from the highly acclaimed Lamastus Family Elida Estate — wonderfully juicy and citric, delicate and detailed with stone-fruit-to-floral layers. Wildflower honey and mandarin notes meet jasmine and white peach for an exquisite, long finish with elegant taste and aroma. In the cup: nectarine, honey, orange blossom, and jasmine.

THE PRODUCER The Lamastus family has produced coffee at Elida Estate for four generations since 1918. Elida's coffees grow under a unique set of ecological conditions: shade-grown, bird-friendly, at very high elevation, in a microclimate with very low temperatures, surrounded by the virgin native cloud rainforest of Volcán Barú National Park. Kentucky-born Robert Lamastus started the plantation at around 5,600 feet (1,700m) in the remote Boquete region at the turn of the century, and what he produced then is still considered among the highest-quality coffee in the world. Three generations later, the family continues to produce, process, and export its own rare estate coffees.

THE PROCESS Hand-picked at peak ripeness from the Torre site, seeds were held in-cherry to ferment for 24 hours, then depulped and dry-fermented for another 36 hours. The coffee was meticulously hand-washed and dried for 14 days on raised beds until the parchment reached a stable moisture content.

This 24-hour in-cherry fermentation followed by 36 hours dry fermentation after depulping is the defining step — it's what builds the delicate stone-fruit-to-floral layering behind the nectarine, honey, and orange blossom character that define this cup.

THE CUP Juicy and citric, delicate and detailed — wildflower honey and mandarin sweetness meet jasmine and white peach florality, finishing exquisite, long, and elegant.
