Varietal: Geisha
Process: Anaerobic Washed, Lemongrass Co-Fermentation

Size: 125g

INTRO

A Geisha from Heiner Lasso, co-fermented with lemongrass leaves and stems. The lemongrass carries straight through to the cup, sitting between lychee and white currant, with the floral lift the variety is known for running underneath it all. An experimental process applied to a variety that usually speaks for itself — and here, the two work together rather than competing.

THE PROCESS

An anaerobic washed process with lemongrass co-fermentation: lemongrass leaves and stems are introduced during fermentation, allowing their aromatics to infuse directly into the coffee before it is washed and dried.

THE CUP

Precise and layered, with lemongrass threaded through the elegance of Geisha rather than masking it. A coffee that earns the experimentation.

Co-Ferment

In this coffee

  • Whitecurrant
  • Lemongrass
  • Lychee

How it works Producers use “co-ferment” for different recipes, often involving fruit, juice, botanicals or a prepared fermentation medium. The producer’s details should explain exactly what was added and when.

Typical influence The added input can strongly influence the cup, but the result depends on the producer’s recipe. This coffee’s own tasting notes are the best guide.

About this variety

Coffees reported as Gesha or Geisha are often prized for a delicate, tea-like cup with lifted floral aromas and bright fruit. Jasmine, bergamot and peach are common reference points, but each lot can express them differently.

Why this one is different
  • Colombia
  • Huila
  • 2100 masl
  • Co-Ferment

This is a Colombian expression, so it should not be expected to match a Panamanian Geisha exactly. The farm, growing conditions and lot notes matter more than the spelling.

Co-ferment covers different producer-defined recipes involving added ingredients or fermentation media. It can strongly influence the cup, so the producer’s disclosure and this coffee’s tasting notes are the best guide.

Why the Gesha / Geisha name matters

Gesha and Geisha are interchangeable spellings, not proof of different varieties. The best-documented Panamanian Geisha and a Colombian research sample have matched T2722, but country and spelling do not prove that every farm planting is identical.

Classification Reported Gesha / Geisha

Technical lineage The reported name alone does not establish one genetic lineage. Confirmed Panamanian T2722 traces to Ethiopian landrace material.

Variety is a guide, not a flavour guarantee. Lot notes are more specific.
