Description

Kenya – Washed AB SL28, SL34

Freshly landed and the first lot we selected during our visit to Kenya in February. This cup is classic Kenya - bright, juicy, and layered.

Expect vibrant notes of blackberry, rhubarb, and a soft touch of tonka bean.

Kenya is renowned for its washed coffees and is widely considered one of the top origins for quality. Most of DAK's lots come from smallholder farmers - typically working just 1–2 hectares and growing a mix of crops alongside coffee. These farmers are part of Cooperative Societies, delivering cherries to centralised Factories (wet mills) for processing.

This lot is a great expression of the precision and potential in Kenyan smallholder production.

Flavour Notes: Blackberry, Rhubarb, Citrus

We recommend brewing with beans that are at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 8-12 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 12). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
