INTRO From Reshad Albuls, a young producer in Agaro, Jimma, who took over his family farm. Sweet and creamy, this natural carries dried apple and milk chocolate sweetness, lifted by a bergamot brightness. In the cup: dried apple, bergamot, and milk chocolate.

THE PRODUCER Reshad Albuls took over his family farm in Agaro, Jimma, working without electricity or running water alongside six neighbouring farmers who rely on natural processing methods to produce sweet, fruit-forward coffees. He's also experimenting with anaerobic naturals and honey processing. The partnership with Reshad began in 2023, with ongoing support toward organic certification to help expand opportunities for his high-quality coffee.

THE PROCESS This lot is a Natural — cherries are dried whole, allowing the fruit to impart its character directly into the bean. This straightforward, resourceful approach, done without electricity or water access, is what builds the dried apple and milk chocolate sweetness that define this cup.

THE CUP Sweet and creamy — dried apple and milk chocolate sweetness up front, lifted by a bright bergamot note. A resourceful, fruit-forward natural from a young producer building his own path.

About this variety

This variety is recorded for the coffee, but we do not yet have a reviewed typical cup profile for it. The tasting notes for this specific lot are the best guide.

Why this one is different
  • Ethiopia
  • Jimma
  • 1900-2000 masl
  • Natural

Natural processing often brings a rounder, fruit-led expression, which can make the same variety feel quite different from a washed lot.

Growing conditions in Jimma at 1900-2000 masl also shape ripening, sweetness, acidity and aroma.

A little background

This is the variety name supplied by the producer or roaster. We preserve that identification without inventing a genetic history.
