INTRO From Jean Paul Langenstein's Gato Grande farm in Los Pozos, Tierras Altas — a 96-hour cold-fermented washed Geisha. Jasmine florality leads, with layered citrus, orange, and lemon candy sweetness, finishing on a bright orange juice acidity. In the cup: jasmine, citrus, orange, lemon candy, and orange juice.

THE PRODUCER This lot comes from Jean Paul Langenstein W.'s Gato Grande farm in Los Pozos, high in the Tierras Altas region of Chiriquí, Panama, at 1,910–2,000 masl.

THE PROCESS This lot underwent a 96-hour cold fermentation before washing. After fermentation, the coffee dries on raised beds, then rests for two weeks in GrainPro bags in a dark room, before returning to raised beds for final drying.

The extended 96-hour cold fermentation, combined with the two-week dark-room GrainPro rest between drying stages, is the defining step — it's what builds the layered citrus and lemon candy complexity behind the jasmine aromatics that define this cup.

THE CUP Layered and citrus-driven — jasmine florality opens the cup, with citrus, orange, and lemon candy sweetness woven throughout, finishing on a bright orange juice acidity.

About this variety

Coffees reported as Gesha or Geisha are often prized for a delicate, tea-like cup with lifted floral aromas and bright fruit. Jasmine, bergamot and peach are common reference points, but each lot can express them differently.

Why this one is different
  • Panama
  • Chiriquí
  • 1910-2100 masl
  • Washed

Panamanian Geisha, especially well-traced T2722 grown at high altitude, is the classic reference for a very delicate, jasmine-led and peach-like cup.

Washed processing can make acidity and variety character easier to read, although fermentation and drying choices still matter.

Why the Gesha / Geisha name matters

Gesha and Geisha are interchangeable spellings, not proof of different varieties. The best-documented Panamanian Geisha descends from Ethiopian material recorded as T2722, while other coffees carrying either spelling may not be genetically identical.

Classification Reported Gesha / Geisha

Technical lineage The reported name alone does not establish one genetic lineage. Confirmed Panamanian T2722 traces to Ethiopian landrace material.

Variety is a guide, not a flavour guarantee. Lot notes are more specific.
