INTRO This season's Kenyan offerings all come through trusted partner Kamavindi Coffee Lab — this one, from a long-term project with Kangiri FCS, delivers exceptionally vibrant, full acidity. Rich plum juice sweetness meets a candy-like preserved plum note, with delicate mango aromatics. In the cup: plum juice, blackberry, preserved plum candy, and mango.
THE PRODUCER This lot comes from a long-term project between Kamavindi Coffee Lab and Kangiri FCS in Muranga County. While Kamavindi maintains its own estates, it also works as a technical consultant and exporter, partnering closely with farms and cooperatives to continuously improve the quality of Kenya's specialty coffee. This particular project focuses on purifying SL28 and SL34 varieties while separating out Batian and Ruiru 11, aiming for a cleaner, more concentrated classic SL profile.
THE PROCESS This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying — allowing the purified SL28 and SL34 varieties to express their naturally vibrant, full acidity, building the plum juice and blackberry character that define this cup.
THE CUP Vibrant and full — rich plum juice sweetness up front, a candy-like preserved plum note through the middle, and delicate mango aromatics on the finish. A clean, concentrated expression of Kenya's classic SL varieties.
