INTRO
This season marks the first time Peter has separated the harvest into a pure selection of SL28 and SL34 — a quiet but meaningful milestone. Blackberry depth meets red apple brightness, with delicate florals throughout. In the cup: blackberries, red apple, and florals.

THE PRODUCER
This separation was made possible by a shared commitment: by purchasing the farm's Ruiru 11 for a separate SP Coffee project, the opportunity was created for Peter to keep these classic Kenyan varieties apart. In return, their character comes through with greater clarity, while every coffee from the farm finds its purpose and value. This is partnership in practice — not simply selecting the coffees loved most, but supporting the whole harvest so something exceptional can be revealed together.

THE PROCESS
This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying — allowing the newly isolated SL28 and SL34 varieties to express their classic Kenyan character with real clarity, building the blackberry depth and red apple brightness that define this cup.

THE CUP
Bright and structured — blackberry depth leads, with red apple brightness through the middle and delicate florals throughout. High acidity balanced by moderate sweetness and body.

About this variety

Several varieties make up this lot. That can create a layered cup, but their individual flavours cannot be separated honestly after the coffee is combined.

Why this one is different
  • Kenya
  • Embu
  • Washed

These varieties were grown or combined in Kenya. The producer’s lot details and tasting notes are the best guide to how they work together.

Washed processing can make acidity and variety character easier to read, although fermentation and drying choices still matter.

A little background

The varieties are shown exactly as supplied for this coffee. We do not invent one combined genetic or flavour profile for the group.
