He later worked as a bag handler at a local association to gain more experience, eventually learning everything needed to run a farm himself. Introduced to specialty coffee in 2016, Jorge has been experimenting with ways to improve his cup quality ever since.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGeisha was originally collected from coffee forests in Ethiopia in the 1930s, later sent to the Lyamungu research station in Tanzania, then brought to CATIE in Central America in 1953, and distributed through Panama in the 1960s for its coffee leaf rust tolerance. Initially overlooked for its brittle branches, it rose to prominence in 2004 when the Peterson family's entry broke green coffee auction records at Best of Panama. Genetic analysis by World Coffee Research has since confirmed that Panamanian Geisha descending from T2722 is distinct and uniform, associated with extremely high cup quality and known for its delicate floral, jasmine, and peach-like aromas.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTHE PROCESS\u003c\/strong\u003e Jorge has developed his own washing and drying process, beginning with a very strict selection of coffee cherries during harvest.
